Water Line Improvement Project
Overview
The Project includes the installation of 2,989 linear feet of 8″ PVC C900 water line and associated appurtenances along Shaw Street, a portion of River Road at Shaw Street, and North Mineral Springs from Shaw Street to Cedarbrook Road. It also includes the installation of 3,745 linear feet of 6″ PVC C900 water line and associated appurtenances along Cedarbrook Road, from Berley Drive onto Swan Creek By-Pass up to 5417 Swan Creek By-Pass. Additionally, the project involves the installation of nine 12-inch and one 8-inch insertion valves on existing mains along Highway 21 and Highway 67. A total of 1,282 water services will be replaced from the main to the meter throughout the entire Town. This service replacement includes new meter boxes, meter setters, and backflow preventers, with existing services to be abandoned following the installation of the new ones.

Water System Improvement Projects Underway

The Town of Jonesville is working in partnership with The Wooten Company to complete two grant-funded projects designed to upgrade and rehabilitate our water distribution system. These improvements will enhance reliability, safety, and long-term service for our community.
Project One: Water Line Improvements
The Town of Jonesville has contracted with Greenfield Utility Construction LLC for the installation of new valves, fire hydrants and water lines throughout town. The anticipated completion date is October 4, 2026. The project is scheduled to begin March 16, 2026 and will include work along the following roadways. Work may not occur in this specific order. All associated service lines connected to the distribution system will also be replaced.

Project Two: AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure) Meter Replacement

The Town of Jonesville has contracted with Vanguard Utility Services, Inc. for replacement of all meters throughout the water distribution system. Meters will be replaced with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology. The project is scheduled to begin April 1, 2026, with an anticipated completion date is August 28, 2026.
Important Information
Residents and business owners may observe work crews: filming construction areas for documentation, placing door hangers with project information, and speaking with property owners or renters regarding access or service connections
For everyone’s safety, please ensure that no individuals or animals enter construction areas. Vehicles, equipment, and other personal property must be kept clear of roadways and rights-of-way where work is underway.

The Town of Jonesville, North Carolina is accepting sealed formal bids for the Jonesville – Water Line Project. A pre-bid conference will be held August 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Town Hall 1503 NC Highway 67, Jonesville, NC 28642. All bids must be received by the Town of Jonesville no later than 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at Jonesville Town Hall. Project Funding
Funding for the project is provided by a Viable Utilities Reserve Program and a grant agreement with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality. The grant total amount is $6,946,300, with a portion of the grant funds being allocated towards the Jonesville – AMI Meter Replacement Project.
